The Mark Van Beek CNJ Motorsport Dyno Day
The Mark Van Beek CNJ Motorsport Dyno Day
CNJ Motorsport has been associated with, and a member of the Subaru Impreza WRX Club of Queensland for many years now. It was through this association that it has formed many friendships and has enjoyed many organised events. Therefore, we were saddened when we heard the tragic news involving one of it's long term members. Mark Van Beek was diagnosed with inoperable bowel cancer and later tragically passed away on Saturday 21stJune 2008. Mark made significant contributions to the Club and it's members since his registration with the Club in 1998. He competed in his famous GREDDY blue two door STi and won many coveted awards within the Club. Mark also worked on many Club member's cars through his association with Prestige Auto Body Repairs, formerly known as Weatheralls.
As a sign of respect to Mark, when we heard of his diagnosis, we decided to hold a Dyno Day in his honour to raise funds to help with the costs of medical bills etc, and possibly a bit of travel before he got too ill.Tragically Mark passed away during it's planning and infancy, but general consensus dictated that the day would go ahead as planned in his honour, and the proceeds would be passed on to Mark's Family in lieu. Planning and preparations continued in earnest. Although many suppliers and sponsors had already donated some extremely generous prizes, other Supplier's donations continued to come thick and fast. There were four major prizes which were placed on eBay for auction, and there were also numerous other prizes up for grabs through raffles on the day.

The day was a huge success, and was attended by approximately 80 people throughout it's duration. It was a fitting demonstration of support and camaraderie for a fellow Club Member and his grieving family.
Thank you to all the Suppliers, Sponsors and Club Members who were so generous with their donations, time and effort. Thank you also to all of the Club members who showed up on the day to have a Dyno Run, to spectate, to support and to help in the organisation itself. Special mention must be made of Dan Brown, Club Member Extrordinare, whose tireless efforts continued from the planning and infancy stages, through to the organization of parking, and raffles, etc on the day. Without Dan's unrelenting efforts and extensive organisational skills, it wouldn't have been as successful as it was. Thank you all for being so extremely generous: throughout the various forms of fund raising, eBay, raffles, sausage sizzles, soft drinks and donation tins, we raised an incredible $5859.35! This astonishing amount was handed over to Mrs Van Beek by cheque during the Presentations.
CNJ Motorsport along with all of their Sponsors, would like to take this opportunity to wish the Van Beek Family our sincere sympathies, strength and comfort during this very difficult time and throughout their impending arduous journey.
We would like to thank them for attending, and would like to acknowledge how difficult it was for them not only to attend but to bring Mark's pride and joy GREDDY along for display. Although there were some solemn moments, everyone left with a smile on their faces at the end of the Day, as it was definitely a fitting and significant tribute to Mark!
